Sport as a worthy part of the social domain

In the long term, collaboration within all disciplines in the social domain is the only way to reduce costs and start a sustainable movement. We have the expertise to help sports clubs to make a movement towards the tasks per target group that you are dealing with.

Children

A healthy and active youth is essential for the future of your municipality. Investing in sports and exercise for young children yields long-term social benefits. Many children do not exercise enough, with negative consequences for their health and well-being, especially in the long term. Schools and sports clubs struggle to offer all children sufficient opportunities for exercise.

We support municipalities in developing and implementing an integrated sports policy that reaches all children aged 0-12. We offer concrete tools and programs to stimulate sports and exercise in the municipality.

Are you curious about how we can help your municipality to stimulate sports and exercise for all children from 0-12 years? Then contact us!

Young people

Municipalities are faced with the challenge of improving the mental health of young people.

Our proposal: setting up low-threshold youth guidance within existing sports and cultural associations. Here, young people can develop, make social contacts and discover their talents, under (professional) guidance.

By guiding and challenging the young people, they are helped in their autonomous development, which will strengthen their mental resilience.

Associations offer valuable infrastructure and already reach a broad target group.

We offer the expertise through training and guidance, in collaboration with local youth workers, to optimally utilise this potential.

Together we invest in the future of our young people.

Adults

More and more adults do not move enough. This leads to health problems and higher healthcare costs. Municipalities play a crucial role in stimulating an active lifestyle.

Sportjeal is happy to help you develop an effective sports and exercise offer for your residents. For example, we think along with sports providers and other partners about low-threshold programs, such as “Lekker in je vel” – exercise for mothers who stay home with their child. We also help set up walking challenges so that people can easily get moving.

Everything is always done together with local partners and also with security.

Seniors

Loneliness among the elderly is a growing problem. But did you know that sports clubs play an important role in creating a lively and social environment for seniors?

Sportjeal helps sports clubs to open their doors. Together with them, we develop attractive activities, in which exercise and social contacts are central.

  • Coffee mornings with a movement activity

  • Walking groups with a joint lunch

We are constantly working on the connection between the elderly and volunteer work, so that they remain active.

We ensure a sustainable approach with a clear security plan.

Let's spar!

“In 2022, we were commissioned to implement the local sports and prevention agreement. Our analysis showed that the municipality has a wide range of independently operating sports and exercise providers. We have used this opportunity to focus on vitality and promote an integrated approach, in which sports, culture, care and welfare work closely together. This vision formed the basis for the development of the GALA agreement, in which cooperation and sustainability are central.

This approach has resulted in several successful projects with a strong link to the social domain:

  • Yung Clubbers: This project has led to the creation of two safe meeting places for young people, where they can exercise and relax on a weekly basis.

  • BurgerKr8: Students train group 7/8 pupils to become sports instructors, who then provide lessons to group 3-4 during after-school care.

  • Feeling good about yourself: Young mothers can play sports with their children in the community center of the future.

  • Parent with Power: We link fall prevention to sports and exercise activities for seniors, with attention to the social aspect.

Our approach is characterized by efficient use of resources. We combine financing from the GALA agreement with fundraising. We offer support to associations and organizations in developing, implementing and securing these initiatives. This leads to a broadly supported and sustainable sports and exercise offer in the municipality, with positive effects on the health, well-being and social cohesion of residents.”

In 2021, in collaboration with Welzijnskwartier and RVV, we successfully submitted a request for the Social Agenda in Katwijk. The aim of this request was to support sports association Katwijk in its development and to increase its social impact.

Our approach focused on broad motor development and promoting sports enjoyment, based on the principles of autonomy, bonding, competence, growth and challenge. This approach, which is not self-evident within traditional sports culture, has led to remarkable results.

The association has achieved a growth of more than 50% in membership and has hardly any turnover. Investments are made in all age groups, from toddlers to seniors. This growth creates new opportunities to further strengthen the social role of the association.

This project shows that investing in a broad, fun-oriented sports experience leads to growth, involvement and social impact. We can also implement this successful approach in your municipality and thus contribute to a vital and inclusive sports culture.

The following project has little to do with sports as a means, but does show the impact our approach has by tackling things together and in the field:

'Less Grey, More Green' in Scheveningen-Dorp shows how citizen participation and cooperation with the municipality can lead to a greener and more attractive living environment and a strong movement.

We brought residents, Buro Sant en Co and the district office together to realize this project. Our expertise in connecting parties and facilitating collaboration has led to the success of 'Less Gray More Green'.

With our support, residents submitted a plan for the district budgets and then worked with the municipality on the implementation. Buro Sant en Co provided expertise in the planning and selection of planting. Thanks to this project, dozens of trees and thousands of shrubs have been planted in Scheveningen-Dorp. The project has a lasting impact, because residents remain actively involved in the greening of their district.

With our knowledge and experience in creating support and connecting stakeholders, we are able to realize successful participation projects and we do that today with sports. Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
